WIDOWS TO GET $30 MONTHLY

Bill Giving 25 Per Cent to Dependents Is in House. Washington, Aug. 31.—Widows or other dependents of American soldiers and sailors are given the following monthly compensations under the soldiers’ and sailors’ insurance bill reported to the house: Widow, 25 per cent of husband’s pay, but not less than S3O; widow and one child, 35 per cent; but njot less than S4O; widow and two children, 40 per cent, but not less than SSO; widow and mother, solely dependent, 25 per cent or minimum of $25. The administration bill was reported by Chairman Adamson of the interstate commerce committee with /he recommendation that it be passed. Representative Parker of New Jersey, chief foe of the bill and a warm defender of the old pension system, announced he would submit a minority report within a few days. j
