LEE Miss Etha Noland spent Wednesday night with Chloe Overton. Mr. and Mrs. George Hoult attended the Hoult reunion at Brookston Sunday. . Delena Lefler and Chloe Overton spent Wednesday afternoon with Etha Noland. ' . _ G. A. Jacks and. wife attended band concert in Rensselaer Wednesday evening. Mrs. Etta Rockwood of Indianapolis was visiting Mrs. Ann Rishling during the past week. Mrs. G. A. Jacks entertained an auto load of lady friends from Rensselaer Thursday at dinner. Mrs. Edna Morris and little daughter Mabie called on Mrs. Becky Jacks Wednesday afternoon. William Jacks and wife of Monticello were here Sunday visiting his brother, O. A. Jacks, and family. Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Noland, Lonnie Noland and Delena Lefler spent Sunday afternoon with Shirley Noland and wife at Monon. Miss Hannah Culp of Fair Oaks is here this week at the bedside of her brother, “Uncle’’ David Culp, who is very low at this writing. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stew’art, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stiers and Miss Agnes Stiers attended camp meeting at Battle Ground Thursday. Rev. Olin Stewart and family spent a few days during the past week with his parents. He delivered a good sermon. at our church

Amy Clark, Velda Heltzel and Etha Noland. Carylon, the little 2-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Holeman. wandered away from the house Wednesday afternoon and was Jose. There was quite a little excitement until they found him asleep in the cornfield quite a distance from the house,

Earl Williams was a Renselaer goer Tuesday. Charles Reed and sisters were Newland goers Saturday night. Tipton Wiseman spent the weekend with M. P. Comer of near Aix. Most of the farmers of Virgie are finishing harvesting this week. The Red Cross club met with Miss Marion Meader Thursday aft ernoon. Robert Smith and family spent Sunday with Thomas Florence and family. Emmet Pullins and family spent Sunday with Al McCurtain and family. George Cover and family spent Sunday with Frank Hooper and family. Carl and Vern Zellers have been hoeing corn for Frank Middlecamp this week. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Zellers and Mrs. T. J, Mallatt were Rensselaer goers Tuesday. L. E. Harrington and family spent Sunday with Charles Harrington and family. .... • • . Misses Elsie and Jessie Zellers are spending the week with relatives and friends at Winamac and North Judson. The lawn party given at Col. McCurtain’s Saturday evening was well attended and everyone spent an enjoyable evening. Tha North Union Farmers’ club will meet here this Saturday night. A fine program will be given. The young ladies will serve ice cream during the evening for church benefits. Come out. for these meetings benefit the whole community.

evening with William Hurley and family. William Hurley and family spent Sunday with Simon Cooper and. family. Clyde Ward and family spent Monday evening with T. J. Parker and family. Mr. and Mrs. Otha Spriggs spent Saturday evening with T. J. Parker and family. Herbert Garriott and family spent Sunday with Elbert Hurley and family. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Parker spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ores Cunningham; Mr. and Mrs. Silas Toombs called on William Hurley and family Sunday evening. Quite a few young people from this vicinity attended the surprise on Ernest Reese Sunday. Mrs. T. J. Parker spent Thursday and Friday with Mrs. S. L. Johnson and family of Monon.

Miss Ethel Hill of Kniman is working for Mrs. Ocie Nicholson. Mrs. Robert Nicholson is staying with her son Ocie and family for awhile, Frank Payne and family called on Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Davisson one day this week. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Randolph spent Tuesday night with the latter’s sister, Mrs, Tom Stevens. Chloae Torbet, who had* been working at Rensselaer for Mrs. Ralph Donnelly, has returned home. Mrs. Daisy Payne and children and Mrs. Vern Odle called on Mrs. Ocie Nicholson Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shroyer and son Elmer and Roy Toiffiet and family autoed to Chicago Heights Sunday. Mrs. Shroyer stayed for a two weeks’ visit with friends and relatives. ' Mr. and Mrs. John Torbet and son. James Thomas and Herschel Gibbs of near Kirklin came via auto Saturday morning and visited over Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. -James 'ftrbet, returning home Monday.
