Mrs. Mary Hildebran, aged 95 years and 8 months, died at her home near Buffalo, White county, last Monday. She was a native of Pennsylvania, and is survived by four children. John D. Rockefeller subscribed for several million dollars worth of the “Liberty loan’’ bonds Tuesday and next day announcement was made of a 2-cent per gallon increase in the price of gasoline, so the people will really pay for John D’s. “liberty bonds.” The patriotism of many wealthy men is gauged by what they can get out of it. Mrs. Niely Wilson of Brook was badly injured in a fall down a stairway leading to a doctor’s office in Monticello Saturday evening. She was visiting in Monticello and had gone to the physician’s office to consult him regarding her little daughter. The doctor was not in and in leaving to descend the stairs one of. the high heels of her shoe came off just as she had started down and she fell the entire length, striking* the edge of one stair on her back, and it was first feared that her spine was broken. It was later found that her back was ’only badly bruised and the ligaments strained, and she will recover in a short time.
