PLAN BIG FREIGHT VESSELS

United States Steel Corporation Will Begin Extensive Shipbuilding Operations at Once. New York, May 24. —The United States Steel corporation is going to begin shipbuilding operations through its subsidiary, the American Bridge company. The steel corporation has secured 60 acres of land adjacent to Newark bay, and freight vessels of 5,000 to 8,000 tons are to be constructed as rapidly as possible. The new move of the steel corporation is expected to greatly facilitate the huge task of increasing the United States merchant marine.
