WORK ON BANK PROGRESSING
Will Be One of the Best Buildings in Northwest Indiana, Work on-th Q-new First National bank building is now progressing quite rapidly, after being held up for some time by non-arrival of iron. The excavating was completed a couple of weeks ago and the work oi constructing the concrete, and steel vault is now well under way. ' . When completed thflt building will be one of the best and most commodious banking houses in northwest Indiana. to the comfort and convenience of the customers is maintained in every detail, and nothing will be left undone -that would add tee. the safety or service of the institution. The bank vault is being constructed along the most modern lines of concrete with steel reinforcements. Tho walls, floor and ceding are eighteen inches thick, and in the center of this seemingly impregnable wall is a steel basket with six-inch meshes of three-quarter-inch steel rods. These rods run both horizontal and perpendicular, and with solid fastenings at the crossings are made doubly solid.
