DANIEL E. FAIRCHILD DEAD

Aged Demotte Resident Passed Away Sunday. Daniel E. Fairchild, an old soldier and highly respected citizen of Deonotte, who attempted suicide by cutting his throat Thursday of last week, died Sunday as a result. Mr. Fairchild had been in poor health of late and it was thought this caused his effort to end his life. Last Thursday he went into a barber shop at Demotte and while the proprietor was in an adjoinipg room cleaning a bathtub Mr. Fairchild picked up a razor and twice drew the sharp blade aerOßS~iiis throat. He was removed to his home where he lingered in a semi-conscious condition until Sunday at 10:30 a. m. Mr. Fairchild was quite well known throughout the north end of the county and his tragic death cast a gloom over the entire community. He is survived by the aged widow and eight children, as follows: Clifford E. Fairchild of Demotte, trustee of Keener township; Mrs. Essie Erwin, Mrs. Florence Curtin and Mrs. May Wolf of Demotte; Daniel, John and Miss Effie Fairchild of Monon and Miss Sadie Fairchild, who recently returned from Demotte to California. Funeral services were held at Demotte at 1:30 yesterday afternoon and burial was made in the Demotte cemetery.
