MONON MAN IS ASPHYXIATED William Winders of Monon, aged 60 years, was asphyxiated in a Monon freight car shortly after 2 o’clock 9 Saturday morning. The car was loaded with fruit and Ira Robbins, a freight handler, was sent to watch it. Shortly after midnight he complained of gas from the coke stove which heated the car and Winders took his place at 2 o’clock. At 7 o’clock he was found by Clarence Bridgeman sitting on a box as if asleep, but upon investigation was found to be dead. The coroner held an autopsy Saturday afternoon. The deceased leaves a widow and two daughters, Mrs. Bert Owens and Mrs. Alva Crawford, both of Monon. Mrs. Winders is at present visiting relatives in Mississippi. Mr. Winders was for ten years a mail carrier at Monon and left that work recently to take up ralroad work. He had lived in Monon for a number of years and was a highly respected citizen. He leaves $5,000 life insurance.
