WOOD DOING THE “SQUIRMING" NOW
" “It is possible that a resolution will be introduced in congress asking for the expulsion of Will Wood, representative from this district, because he started the so-called leak inquiry, which up-to-date has resulted in nothing but the vending of gossip and innuendoes. It is charged that Wood ought to have had more information at his command before he started such an inquiry. , “Mr. Wood’s future standing largely depends on the final result of the hearing, however. In case a real lead is developed before the inquiry is finally adjourned the congressman will probably have good basis for his claim that the Inquiry was justified. But if the rest of the testimony is like that which has gone, before Mr. Wood will cut a very sorry spectacle. “But the people of the Tenth district who have known something of the reputation of their congressman will not be greatly surprised. Mr. Wood has long been a seeker after fame and when the opportunity came to jump into the newspapers he grabbed it. It is hardly a matter for Tenth district pride at this moment to reflect that Mr. Wood’s reputation rests to a large extent on proving the authenticity of certain backstairs gossip.’’— Gary Post.
