The Wild Turkey.

When white men first came to America they found Indians, corn, tobacco and Turkeys—all wild. The turkeys in the forests of Maine and westward as" far as Nebraska and southward to the lower parts of Mexico. Gonzalo Fernandez de Oviedo, the Spanish historian, who wrote many books about the West Indies, printed & description of the wild turkey at Toledo in the year 1527.
