Jan. 12.—The!efforts to force a congressional investigation of the alleged information “leak" to Wall street on the Wilson peace note to the European belligerents, as well as the efforts to cite Thomas- W. Lawson for contempt of the house, collapsed and the whole investigation was abandoned. By votes of the Democratic members of the house rules committees, it was decided to report to the house adversely the second Wood resolution, providing for investigation in the charges made by Lawson, fry a commission of five members of the* house to be appointed by the speaker. r 'he. resolution. seeking’ to find out through a congressional investigation whether anyone high in the administration, or any relative of any high officials, profited through the fluctuation bf the stock market on December 20 and 21, the committee voted to refuse to consider.
