MOTOR CLUB GIVES BANQUET
The outgoing officers of the Delaware County Motor club gave an annual banquet last week for the members of the club. The banquet hall was crowded to overflowing and it was one of the most enthusiastic motor club meetings ever held in the state. Luke W. Duffey, repre-sentative-elect from Marion county, spoke of the need of a state highway department and discussed the advantages to be gained by such a department. E. Noblet, secretary of the Hoosier State Automobile association, reviewed the work done
by the motor clubs in the state in the last year. “Our principal object,” Mr. Noblet said, “h’as been to arouse public sentiment, in behalf of a state highway department, getting better roads in counties, putting out thousands of uniform direction and uniform warning road signs, disseminating touring information, bring about suitable traffic laws, helping capture and convict automobile thieves and giving out information that would tend to induce pedestrians and automobilists to co-operate in efforts to prevent accidents.” The Muncie club was the first to be formed outside of the Hoosier Motor club at Indianapolis and the club expects to raise its membership during the next few weeks from 200 td 500. .
