WALSH HALL DEFEATS ST. JOE

Sheridan Defeated Saturday by_the Gary High .School. Walsh Hall of Notre Dame university defeated the St. Joseph college football team here Sunday by ■ a score of 12 to 6. The teams were , quite evenly matched and both made ■ one earned touchdown, the visitors’ ' second score coming as a result of a fumble by one of the St. Joseph boys. The Sheridan team, which is to play Rensselaer at Lafayette next Saturday, were defeated last Saturday by the Gary high school, which somewhat complicates the football championship situation, in that it gives the Steel City team opportunity to contest either Rensselaer or Sheridan’s right to the honor. It is quite probable that a large number from this city will accompany the team to Lafayette Saturday. The Pifle Village team played a scoreless game Sunday at Toledo, this making their second tie game of the season. The Hammond Clabbys, which it was hoped could be matched to play the Pine Village team in this city this season, were defeated Sunday by the Davenport, lowa, team 14 to 12, and the Ft. Wayne Friars defeated the Wabash A. A. 13 to 7.
