A SLIGHT TASTE OF WINTER
Ground Covered with Snow Yesterday for First Time. After raining practically all of j’ Wednesday and Thursday nights. and part of the forenoon Thursday, the mercury took quite a sudden e drop yesterday morning and we got e a gust of real snow for a short time v about 9 o’clock. A cold, raw wind 1 of considerable velocity set in early i in the day and made it extremely disagreeable outside. The dirt roads t are quite bad, and everyone is hop- ' ing that the new bridge over the * Howe ditch, on the Rensselaer- [ Remington road will be got in \ t mighty soon and thus save the de-e tour over frightful roads on this 0 much traveled highway. As The Democrat went to press ( i more flurries of snow were falling g and the mercury stood at 33 de-* s grees. The indications were that it would get 'below the freezing n point last night. w
