Miss Dural Anderson spent Saturday and Sunday here with home folks. Mrs. C. A. Holeman spent part of this week visiting her daughter, Mrs. Elzie Webb. George Holeman and family of Monticello spent Sunday here at Frank Overton's. Mrs. Leroy Noland, who has been sick for such a long time, is very much worse at this writing. Orval Holeman and family of near Lafayette spent Saturday and Sunday here visiting relatives. Buckwheat threshing is almost over with around here. It is not turning otit very well on account of the dry, hot weather and the early frost. Mr. Poole, the trustee of Hanging Grove township, is furnishing the stone and the men are donating their work and hauling it on the road that goes back through the field to the Osborne cemetery. Frank "Eldridge’s little girl took sick in school on Thursday of last week with scarlet fever. She has been very sick but is improving nicely at this writing. It is not known where she contracted the disease. Last Sunday being Hamilton Stiers sixteenth birthday, his mother and sister very successfully planned a surprise party for him on the Saturday evening before, which was enjoyed by a large number of young people. Refreshments were served at a late hour. G. A. Jacks and wife "went to Lafayette last Sunday to see their daughter. Mr. Jacks took sick while there and their daughter, Mrs. Lefler. drove his machine and brought them home Monday. They called the doctor and he pronounced the sickness scarlet fever. He is very sick at this writing.
