M’CTTCHEON OWNER OF ISLAND Chicago,' Sept. 29. —John T. McCutcheon, cartoonist, has bought an island in tho South Atlantic ocean, near the Bahama group, it became known today. The island is three and a half miles long and a little more than a mile wide and is down on the admiralty charts as Salt Cay island. To mariners it is known as Treasure island because of the many legends of burled gold which pirate rtileftains placed there In the days when the rovers of the sea piled their calling. McOuteheon says he places more faith in the cocoanut treeß, of which there are 30,000, than he does in the tales of buried treasure, and he expects his return to come from the products of the soil instead of buried treasure chests.
