General Prosperity Hurts Easiness of Loan Sharks.

General prosperity has hurt the salary loan busineco. Half a dozen money lenders, appearing before the board of review yesterday to explain their professed poverty, informed Reviewer Frank S. Ryan that “the people are not borrowing money." Investigation during the last few days by employes of the board of review confirms the leaders' statements, Mr. Ryan says. “I have quit the money lending business,” said M. G. Young of 4191 South Halstead street. “I couldn’t make expenses.” He was not assessed. Carl M. White, 56 West Washington street, was assessed on .S3OO.
