WHEATFIELD Mr. and Mrs. Ira Clark visited friends and relatives at Kersey Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wiseman of South Bend visited friends and relatives in these parts the first of the week. Wheat threshing in these parts is about over. A fair yield is reported. Wm. Grube and Clark Bros, had an average of about 27 bushels per acre. Mr. and Mrs. James Whitehead of Rensselaer visited at the Edward Mutchler home Sunday. Mr. Mutchler’s condition doesn-H seem to change much. Peace and prosperity is surely a twin of no mean caliber. As Grover Cleveland would have said: “We are face to face with a condition, not a theory.’’ Clark Bros, and family and S. D. Clark and family auroed to Flint lake Sunday. Quite a few of the Wheatfield autoists spent a pleasant day at Cedar Lake. No, Four Corners is not dead, as we saw him in Wheatfield Saturday evening. He said his oats averaged 50 bushels per acre, so it is needless to say that he was happy. If we have plenty of rain R. H Morehouse will surely have watermelons by the thousands. For the last few years Mr. Morehouse has

raised from four to 10 acres, and his patch this year is about as large. - Grube of Stoutsberg is threshing in the vicinity of Baum’s Bridge at this writing. Mr. Grube has a large threshing outfit which surely can eat up the gran. It is sad to see so many good looking young men going down the hlirof the year 1016 uncaught. Why the girls don’t stop these fellows with their leap year right is a mystery. * v r. Ott spent a few days in Crown Point the latter part of last week. The call of the farm is so strong that he makes his ..town visits verv He is a farmer who farms. We had' a fine showier Monday wiiich surely was very much needed in these parts. Although small parts of some large fields of corn were badly fired, yet this rain if followed by a large one in a few 1 days will about give us a normal crop.

GIFFORI) A nice shower we had Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Dice Zook are the owners of a new Ford. Mr. and Mrs. Grover Norris are the proud parents of a new dishwasher. Mrs. Minnie Hilton and children left Monday for Illinois to spend a few' days. Lillian McClanahan came home Saturday from a few days’ visit at Roseiawn.
Quite a crowd from this neighborhood attended the circus at Rensselaer Saturday. John Cavinder and son Elvin called on Mrs. Ernest Muss and mother Tuesday. Miss Lillian McClanahan and sister Orabell called on Lillie Cavinder Tuesday afternoon. Ernest Xuss, wife and baby spent Saturday night at Laura with his folks, William .Xuss and wife. Fred Cavinder and wife from Lowell were up visiting relatives in this neighborhood Saturday and Sunday, returning home Monday.
