Mingo Tyler, fifty an’ -well-t'-do, who retired from active business last fall, wuz buried yisterday, death resultin' from heat. Here’s a lesson fer th’ many thousands who are t’ day hustlin' along tryin’ V git money enough t'gether t’ lay back an’ take
th’ world easy. Th' feller who has alliis led an active life either mentally or physically can’t jest knock off with impunity an' launch forth on a career o’ sweet idleness. We often hear, “if I had that feller’s money I wouldn’t be workin’.” Th’ man o’ means who goes regularly V his work lest as tho’ he wuz a sewin' machine agent or an editor is doin’ so thro’ choice—thro' a natural desire t’ be doin’ somethin’—accomplfshin’ somethin’. He probably has funds sufficient t’ keep him in luxury, but he hasn’ funds enough t’ keep him from rustin' out when his mental an’ physical activity stops. Look at a discarded clover huller! Examine an old sleigh as it reposes in a hay loft! Look at anything that has been out o’ th* game fer any length o’ time! “But,” you’ll say, ' “we hardly ever hear of a loafer dyin’.” True enough. Th’ feller who has been raised on idleness often reaches a party fair age, but th’ average loafer is soft an’ spongy, an’ ever susceptible t’ current epidemics an’ prevailing microbes. An’, then too, we hardly ever hear of a loafer dyin' because th’ newspapers have no space t’ wrnste on those who have not contributed any service t’ th’ community. Ther’s too many instances o’ folks dyin’ “jest when they git ready t’ live,” as we call it, t’ raise any argyment in favor o’ early retirement from business. In fact theyMie jest when they gff ready t’ loa\ Droppin' out o’ active life hastens ennui, an’ ennui brings on arguin’!
an’ chewin’ an’ whittlin’, all natural enemies o’ longevity. Tables of tidal currents for the Pacific coast in the vicinity of San Francisco and Puget sound have been published in order to make immediately available information relative to currents derived from observations by the United States coast and geodetic Burvey. Further Information is to be added as rapidly a 3 observations are available. The Victoria Falls and Transvaal Power company (Ltd.), of Johannesburg, is by far the largest power and lighting company In South Africa, and it supplies from its four stations nearly all the gold mines and reef towns with both power and light, tranmission being by three phase long-distance, 40,000 volts overhead. Distribution is by 20,000 volts under ground and 10,000 overhead.
