ASKS CLEAN ADVERTISING New Yorker Makes Plea in Addres* Before Des Moines Chamber of Commerce. Des Moines. la.. May 5. —A plea for "clean and constructive” advertising was made to the Des Moines chamber of commerce by C. E. LaVigne of New York, former special agent for the federal trade commission. At the present time Mr. LaVigne is director of the bureau of investigation maintained by a prominent New York daily newspaper in a campaign for truthful advertising and the elimination of unfair merchandising. Posse Takes Alleged Slayer. Thompson, Conn.. May s. —John Elliott. slayer of Miss Sybyl Pettis and her father, was captured about three miles from the scene the crime.
