F. K. Jackson of Evanston, 111., Who Fled With $19,000 of University’s Funds, Returns. Chicago, April T. —Franklin K. Jackson came home yesterday. When the police of two continents failed to find him, the man’s love for his loyal wife and his two children brought him back. Haunted by the thoughts of their loneliness and the knowledge that they were suffering for his disgrace, he traveled 3,0<)0 miles to give himself up. He had been hiding in San Francisco as a shopkeeper in the Jewish quarter. On November 12 Jackson, then the trusted cashier of Northwestern uni versity, disappeared mysteriously from his home in Evanston, leaving behind him a shortage in his accounts estimated ..t $19,000. Friends signed a $20,000 bond and he was given his freedom.
