PINE GROVE. James Britt lost a horse Tuesday. James Britt is the owner of a new Ford. Andy Rapp Was a Chicago goer Tuesday. The Ladies’ Aid met with Mrs. Janies Torbet Wednesday. Newell and Lowell Hayes spent Sunday with Charley Torbet. Miss Helen Flora spent Sunday With her sister,Miss Lea Flora. May and Floyd Shook called on Miss Lea Flora Sunday afternoon. Clifford Baker has been assisting Charles Britt in setting fence posts. J. M. Torbet entertained the minister, Rev. Cain of the Brushwood church, over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. James Britt went to Attica Monday to attend the funeral of the former's niece. Several from this vicinity attended the funeral of Jacob Lesb-Tuesday. Which was held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eli Arnold.

VIRGIE. Joh ii Le wis was a Rensselaer goer Tuesday. Miss Flossie Wiseman spent Sunday with home folks. Miss Lizzie Wiseman is spending a few days with home folks. Miss Minnie Humfeld visited her parents near Valparaiso over Sunday. Charles Florence and Ebber Hahn visited the Virgie school Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Pearl Zellars visited Tuesday with Mrs. John Zellers of Fair OaXs, who has been very sick. Mrs. James Hill went to Rensselaer Wednesday, where' she will help care for Mrs. Tom Hayes. Miss Bertha Florence came home from Rensselaer a few days ago to help care for her sister Dora, who has been quite sick.

Miss Clara Gasa way returned home Wednesday from Rensselaer where she has been visiting for the past week at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Tom Hayes. Rev. Rogers preached his farewell sermon here Sunday night. His school at Kninian having closed Monday. He left Xor his home at Royal ('(liter. Ind. Those who spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Harrington were: Mr and Mrs. Walter Harrington, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harrington and daughter Gladys, Miss Ada and Patience Florence and Rev. Rogers. The Loyal Workers Sunday school class held their meeting at Miss Bertha Gasaway’s home Wednesday evening, it also being Miss Gasaway s birthday. Refreshments were served and all reported a splendid time.

Anne Jungles spent part of last week With her sister, Mrs. V M. Peer, and children. Sunday school was organized at Oak Grove last Sundav. Come everybody; 10 a. m. Mr. and Mrs. G. Hi. Coiner and son spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs* Coiner. Estel Marion, who has been working for Earl Barkley of Rensselaer, has come home to stay. Last Friday was the last day of

school at Oak Grove and a good time was had by all, also a good dinner. Everett, Orpha and Myrtle Parker spent Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Davisson and Miss Flora. Mrs. Grant Davisson and Mrs. Frank Payne and daughter called on Mrs. Clyde Davisson Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Davisson and son, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Barkley and daughter Marie spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Lewis Davisson.

LEE. Mrs. Creal has been visiting Mrs. Ann Rishling. Mrs. Ethel Otterberg is here sick at her parents, G. A. Jacks’. Miss "Goldie Linback is doing house work for Mrs. Elmer Gilmore. Our new hardware store building at this place is nearing completion. Mrs. Ephriam Gilmore is sick with lung fever but is improving now. Robert Overton and wife spent. Sunday here with Frank O and family. Mrs. C. A. Holeman is sick. The doctor has been coming each day since Saturday. Our school closed Wednesday of this week with the usual big dinner and a good program. Uncle Wesley Noland is in very poor health and has gone to his son Sam’s to be cared for. Mr. and Mrs. Parker called on their daughter, Mrs. Morris Jacks, and family last Sunday. Frank’Eldridge has been suffering for the past six weeks with neuralgia which caused him to have some teeth extracted, but he is improving now. Mrs. Elmore Gilmore went to her own home on Wednesday of this week after being away almost six weeks on account of an operation for appendicitis. Joseph Clark, who got his head hurt one day last week while helping fix up the telephone line and has been in a very bad condition, is imp roving slowly now.

BROOK. < From the Brook Reporter.) •I. L. McCord was in Danville the first of the week on business. Miss Kate Hines visited friends in Goodland the last of the week. Mayberry Kibler left on Saturday for Cincinnati for a short visit. Earl Penny and family moved on Monday to New Carlisle, Indiana. Mrs. Henry Merredith is seriously ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Lowe, in Kentland. Mrs. Parmer Zobrosky of Morocco was visiting her parents/ .Mr. and Mrs. Battleday, this week. Miss Isedore Lyons returned the first of the week from a visit with her brother Strange in Chicago. Frank Davis and daughter Alice were in Morocco on Tuesday attending the funeral of Mrs. Thomas. ■ Mrs.. Adolph Litsaw is in a very serious condition, as she has been troubled with a cancer for sometime. Claude Warr made a. trip to Mishawauka on Friday to hustle up the shipment of windmill supplies for this neighborhood. The friends of Mrs. Schuyler Cline gave her a pleasant surprise on Sunday, and spent a very enjoyable day at the home of their hostess. Mrs. Charles Sell went to Morocco on Monday to attend the funeral of her mother, Mrs. Ben Thomas, who died on Sunday and whosq burial occurred op Tuesday. Miss Cora Deardruff gave a farewell party on Saturday .evening in honor of Mrs. Woodson who will soon move to Rensselaer. Dainty refreshments were served and a very pleasant evening was spent by all. Miss Ethel MacDonald is having a

serious time this week with what is supposed to be a bone felon on the index linger of the right hand. So far she hag been unable to get relief. Her sister, Miss Edith of Ft. Wayne came on Thursday to eare tor her at the MacDonald home.
