Prominent Lafayette Democrat Dies Suddenly.
While talking with friends in tin* Jackson club rooms at Lafayette Sunday afternoon, Henry Mandler v.as stricken with aproplexy and died in a few 'minutes. lie had apparently been in the best of health. Mr. Mandler was a prominent Democrat and served as a guard in the ! <• treasury building at Washington during tin- first Cleveland administration. lie served ui the Civil war as lieutenant in Co. U, L’..>th Indiana infantry, arid for a time acted as body guard to Major General Freemont of Missouri, lie was born in Germany 74 years ago and came to Lafayette when but [2 years of age.
