STEALS MARCH ON RIVAL.
Farmers’ Telephone Company Connects With Phones in Boswell. Lafayette, Ind., Nov. 5. —The Farmers’ Telephone Company of Boswell stole a march on Its opponent, the Boswell Telephone Company, today by setting poles and wires in the town of Boswell and connecting its rural line with telephones inside the city corporation. A year ago the town board of Boswell was enjoined from granting a franchise to the Farmers’ company, „the Boswell Telephone Company being the plaintiff. The court restrained the board from issuing a franchise.until such time as the public service commission saw fit to issue a certificate of necessity showing the need of a second telephone line in the town. The commis-
sion refused to issue such a certificate. Recently (lie Boswell Telephone Company brought another proceeding, this time against the Farmers’ company. In the suit an injunction is asked tor, hut the case has not yet been decided. .Shortly after Tnidniglit tho Farmers company put a. gang of men at work with tho rural system. On account of having no franchise, the company lias been operating just outside the town limits. The poles were set on private property and the Farmers’ company is standing pat on its action.
