SWAMP LAND CASK OPINION.

Attorney General Says Auditor of State May Order Keappraisement. Indianapolis, Oct. 28.—Richard M. Milburn, attorney general, has given an opinion in which he said the auditor of state has the right to have swamp lands reappraised, when he is satisfied they have not been appraised at their fair cash value, and that he should order a reappraisement whenever he is satisfied any of such lands have not been appraised at their fair cash value. The opinion also said that the auditor has the right to offer such lands at public as well as at private sale if he deems it for the best interests of the state. Persons occupying lands not heretofore or lands adjoining ♦hem, nqw desire to make purchased,

the attorney general explained, but in some instances the appraisements have been exceedingly low, and In some instances only enough to pay the expenses of the survey of the property.
