Step-Daughter of the Late D. T. Halstead Married.
Lafayette, Ind., Oct. 27.—The Indiana State Soldiers’ home lost its official bugler and matron today. Cupid instigated the desertion and 1,000 people looked on as Elder W. A. Young of the Seventh Day Adventist faith, married J. Powell and Emma C. Fox. The wedding marked the culmination of a romantic courtship. The bride came here from Rensselaer twelve years ago and has been a most popular employe. Mr. Powell came from Cass county the same year and his ability as a bugler has won him renown both within the environs of the state institution and without.
Each night he has sounded taps and in the morning he has blown the call for breakfast. When he blew his bpgle today for dinner it was “taps” for him so far as his residence at the home is concerned. Immediately after noon he and his bride stood on the porch of the Tippecanoe county cottage and recited the marriage vows. The entire membership of the home attended the ceremony. Mr. Powell and his bride would not tell even their most intimate friends just what their plans lor the future might be.
