Little Daughter of Elmer Clark Bitten by Rattlesnake.
Olive, the youngest daughter of Ehirer Clark, residing about 12 miles west of town, was bitten on the foot by a rattlesnake Monday afternoon, the fangs of the serpent making a slight wound. Dr. Clayton was called hut did not reach the Clark home till about four hours later, lie gave the child treatment and was gratilied to find her doing so nicely Wednesday that he discontinued his visits! The child was walking in the road bare-footed when the snake attacked her. Older members of the family were near and succeeded in killing the snake, which was about 14 inches long and,had one rattler. The deadly poison which follows the insertion of a rattlesnake’s teeth, always causes alarm and often results fatally with the victim. The confidence of Dr. Clayton in Olive’s recovery is very gratifying.—Monon News.
1 lie Democrat learned yesterday that the Clark girl was not quite so weß; that she had suffered quite a good deal Thursday night and the doctor was called out again yesterday. The family reside in Milroy tp., Jasper county. There seems to be an unusual number of rattlesnakes reported in different sections of the county this season, and people should be on the lookout for them.
