Miss Bertha Primmer returned Sunday evening from a visit in Hoopeston, Hi. Miss Anna Roe of Downers Grove, Hl., »as the guest of Mrs. Charles Hascall ’Thursday. Miss Elsie Bickel and friend, Miss Olga Lawrence, of Chicago, spent the week-end here. Mrs. Clyde Coover and little daughter of Denver, Colo., came Friday for a visit with the C. H. Peck family. Mrs. Groves of Monticello, came Saturday evening for a two weeks’ visit with the Ezra Bowman family and other friends. Mrs. Ed Sutherland of Milford, 111., was the guest of her mother’ Mrs. Fannie Parks, and other relatives, the first of the week. Prof. Lowell Townsend, who is teaching at Urbana, 111., came Monday in response to a message of the serious condition of his father. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brand and children, and Mrs. Fannie Parks, autoed to Valparaiso Saturday and spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Parks. Dr. and Mrs. Q. A. Follett and daughter, Rosemond, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Gilkey and Miss Minnie Gilkey of Ambia, spent Sunday with John Turner and family. Mrs. Belle Greene left Saturday morning for Chicago to make a two weeks’ Visit with her daughter, Mrs. Wellington Morris before going to Edgely, N. D., to visit a son and daughter there. Rev. E. H. Bull left Monday for Rochester, N. Y., to which place he has the honor of being sent as a delegate to the general assembly of the Presbyterian churches, in session from May 20 to 30. N. J., started this Thursday morning for a trip by motorcycle and side car for a pleasure trip to
Remington, where they will visit her mother, Mrs. O. Heath, before locating in the west. The aged father of John Zehr died Tuesday evening at his home at Wolcott, from a general breakdown. He was 87 years and 15 days of age. He leaves nine children, four sons and five daughters. The funeral will be held this Friday. Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Taber of Wabash, are here this Week, being summoned by a message stating the accident of Wm. Townsend. Mrs. Townsend was visiting Mrs. Taber, and Mr. Taber accompanied her home Sunday. Mrs. Taber coming Monday. Roy R. Rowan of Otterbein, broth er-in-law of Carl Sommers, find his partner, P. J. Nichols, of Indianapolis, a couple of steeple jacks, came Wednesday and mounted the spire of the Catholic church, and removed the big cross which was damaged bv the cyclone. The Carpenter tp. commencement exercises will be held at the M. B. church on Friday evening, May 21, in connection with the regular high school commencement. The following is | list of graduates: Henry Bowdv, Fred Provo, Helen Welch, Lucile Messersmith, Mary Plummer, Pearl Jay, Henry Beckley, Vernie Stath and Clarence Meadel. Reuben Zimmerman was born in Pennsylvania Nov. 23, 1835, and and died at his home near Remington, May 15, aged 79 years, 5 months and 22 days. He was married to Miss Caroline McGriffin at Coshocton. Ohio. August 15, 1 864, leaving at once for Hudson, 111., to make their home, and where they continued to make their home for thirty-one years. To this union was born five children, William H. and Hall y. of Remington, Harry L. of Gridley, 111.. Daisy A. DeVoogt of Remington, and Mrs. Laura M. Junk of Hudson, ill. He moved with his family to the vicinity of Remington, March 3. 1896, where the remaindei of his life has been spent. He leaves to mourn his loss, the aged wife, the ' five children and their families with nine grandchildren, and one brother Harvey H„ of Moberly, Mo

Wouldn’t that be fine? Mr. and Mrs. Louis Swartz spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. I, Hamilton. Rev. Samsel and Frank Sommers ate dinner Sunday with H M. Ogle and family. Walter Gilmore has an attack of lumbago this week. He is in quite bad condition. Miss Leona Ogle ahd Miss Sylvia Beaver called on Blossom Grouns Monday afternoon. Misses Leona Ogle, Irma Clark and Blossom Grouns called on Miss Orabelle Swartz Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. William Chapman and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. William Vanatta. Miss Sarah Martin is spending this week with her sister, Mrs. Elmer Breman, of Pleasant Ridge. Mrs. Berry of Gary, returned home Friday afternoon after spending a few weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Deßoy. Say! Ernest Beaver has a fine new buggy, some swell too. Oh, you luckgirls that got the first ride. Thev thought they were pretty nice riding in so swell an affair.
Rev. Samsel delivered a very fine sermon Sunday evening. He will be here again the second Sunday in June, The Sunday school convention will be next Sunday, MaV 30. \ll are cordially invited.

Hankins’ store building Thursday, John Stockwell had the misfortune to run a nail in his foot, which has caused him considerable pain.
The Ladies’ Aid Societv, which was organized a couple of weeks ago, are planning to give a big chicken supper, May 29, Saturday evening, at rhe school house for the benefit o: the church. Let everyone come prepared to eat supper and have a good time. Price for supper low enough that no one can afford to miss it.
ROSELAWN. Charles’Mulaney was shopping in • Rensselaer Saturday. Thayer beat Brook at baseball on the Thayer grounds Sunday. Score 10 to 6. ’ Some six or seven auto loads of Masonic members attended lodge here Friday evening. Mar>- Jane Phillips was a Rensselaer visitor Monday with her music teacher, Sister Mary Modeska. Schuyler Cox, township assessor, R. Ball and son, Finlev, were shopping in Roselawn Saturday. J- I). Law, county superintendent of roads, and Wm. Best of Morocco were business visitors here Friday. Joseph Adams and wife of Chicago, came down Saturday to spend a day or two at their summer home, west of town. X. D. McCord is going into the I cement silo building business and will build the first one for Fred Nelson, in I the near future. Elmo Guilford of Lake Village, was having his hand treated by Dr Rice Saturday for blood poisoning’ caused by a scratch from a barb wire. Corn planting is about finished hereabouts, with hte exception of some fields that win have to be replanted. owing to the cold rainy weather. Um. Boyle received six new Ford autos Saturday, four of them being sold long before their arrival. Mr. Bo}le .is building up a nice trade on the Fords. Mrs. Corneil Walstra committed suicide Monday morning bv taking rat poison, and lived only -about an hour. Mrs. Walstra was a fine appearing and good woman in every respect. Poor health is the only reason attributed for her rash act She leaves a husband and a bright young child about three years old, also a baby six months old. Mr. Walstra, who is a fine young man and a good husband and father, has the sympathy of the community in his great bereavement.

George. Caster is the owner of a dandy new Ford and is running it like an old hand. Fred May and family made a short call on Elmer Clark and family Sunday evening. Misses Leona Ogle, Irma Clark and Blossom Grouns spent Sunday afternoon with Orabelle Swartz. Oh, you “kids” that got the first ride in the new buggy! Don’t you think you’re big? Some class to that buggy alright, best one yet.
