WHEAT FIELD OF 700 ACRES.

Probably the Largest Acreage in Hoosierdom. Just west of town, on the Kelley ranch, there are 700 acres of wheat Which is in a flourishing condition and pro’mfsesan abundant yield. This is no doubt the largest individual wheat field in the state. Last year the acreage was not so large, but the yield was good. The Kelley ranch has the biggest sheep barn in America and new takes the lead in the state for wheat growing. When Air. Kelley bought a number of small farms where the ranch is situated, aggregating over 1.700 acres, the topography of the country was that some of the “old settlers’? wore a healthy grin because a tenderfoot millionaire began blowing in his money on improvements, but it was consoling to have the money "wastin .the township. If some man or even most men were to be entrusted as paymaster in the transformation ecenfi out there, the o. s. might have been justified in their forebodings, but Air. Kelley bad a particular man for the job before he had the job. His name is B. B. Curtis, and while he has made the Kelley ranch to blossom as the rose and spent thousands of dollars, the reward of scientific farming is now being realized, and right here in Alonon township we have one of. the biggest and best farms in the state. Air. Curtis is demonstrating the fact that it pays to spend money.—Alonon News.
