Calumet Pickle Company to Build Salting Station at Newland.

Announcement was made today by. the Calumet Pickle Works of this city of the opening of a big salting station in the heart of the Jasper county agricultural district. The station will be built at Newland, 12 miles from Rensselaer. It will be a frame building 30x100 feet and equipped with all the machinery necessary to carry on the work. The company is already contracting with farmers in that section for pickles. Seventy-five contracts have been closed but it is expected that at least’ that many more will be secured" before the opening ot the season. The object in opening the saltingplant is to provide a station for the receipt of fresh vegetables of all kinds. After they have received preliminary preparation, they will be shipped to the finishing plant in this city. Through this arrangement the local, plant will be able to run at capacity the entire year.—Hammond News.
