N. Y. C. to Construct Largest Bail Yards in World Near Gary.
Gary, ind., March 29.—Trustees of the town of Miller, just east of Gary, today in the Valparaiso circuit court, withdrew their plan to open a street to the lake fronl through the New York Central Railroad’s land when officials of thai company announced that they would build their huge Chicago-Gary clearing yards there. As recompense to the town the railroad company will build a SIOO,OOO boulevard to the Lake Michigan beach. Although it has been known for some time that the New York Central lines had purchased a large tract of land east of Gary for gigantic railroads yards, it was not known jfist what the plans were until today, when the company engineers showed blue prints of the entm yard system,- which \Yill have a capacity of 35,000 cars, the largest in the world. The engineers told the Miller trustees that work would be started on the yards this summer.
