Mrs. Granville Moody of Barkley tp., accompanied as far as Chicago by her husband, left Monday to visit her two daughters In Kansas, Mrs. George Dunn at Witchita and Mrs. Jane Hall at Spivey. Dr. Rose M. Remmek, the optician, will occupy the new room just completed by Jay W. Stockton between the Makeever bank building and the Forsythe building. Bunch and Deputy Prosecutor Gene Williams of Muncie, have been placed under arrest on grand jury indictments charging them with accepting bribes from slot machine concerns. Bunch is charged with accepting a bribe of $1,600 and the deputy prosecutor SIOO. John T. Garvin, a farmer of Monon township, by L. D. Carey, his attorney, filed, his petition in bankruptcy in the United States District Court at Indianapolis last week. Mr. Chauncey Dexter, a son of Harvey J. Dexter of Union tp., and Miss Wilda Lffbne Green, daughter of James H. Green of Remington, were mafried at the home of the bride Sunday afternoon. Both are popular young people, and The Democrat joins their many friends In extending congratulations. Mayor Spitler and Councilmen King, Kresler and Warner, and Fire Chief Montgomery, were In South Band Friday to inspect a street flusher manufactured by the Studebaker Company. They were very much pleased with the work of same but have not decided as yet whether they will buy one .for use in Rensselaer or not, as one of the flushers of 650 gallons capacity ,costs S9OO. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Duvall received word , Saturday night of the death sLt Allentown, 111., that evening, of Lyman Sperry, who died of a cancer on the neck. The funeral and burial took place yesterday at Allentown. Mr. Sperry was the husi>and of Mrs. Ida Chilcote O’Meara, a former resident of Rensselaer and teacher in the city schools here. They have one child, a son four years old, and Mr. Sperry leaves'a daughter, a young lady, by his first wife.
