Earl Matheny, who broke one of his legs early in January, ir now able to get about with the aid of crutches. Mrs. Isiah Duffey returned to Wabash county Tuesday after a visit here with her mother, Mrs. I. D. Walker of Barkley tp., who is in quite poor health. Mrs. Frank Maloy of Lowell, stopped off here Thursday after a short visit with relatives, while on her way to St. Petersburg, Fla., for a few weeks’ sojourn. Rev. D. A. Rogers of Laketon, was here this week visiting his sister, Mrs. R. A. Parkison, and looking after some improvements on his farm northeast of town, occupied by Albert Duggins. Dr. C. E. Johnson, accompanied by a nurse from Chicago, Went to Remington Thursday to perform an operation on Miss Alice Jones, a daughter of former county commissioner Dexter R. Jones. C. p. Moody of Barkley tp., accompanied his daughter, Mrs. A G. Work, to Chicago Wednesday, where she was joined Thursday by Mrs. Stella Ketchum and baby, who accompanied her to her home in Detroit, Mich., for an extended visit.

These be sad times for the liquor interests, and scarcely a week goes by but some big brewery company goes to the wall. The Hammond Brewing Company is the latest to go into the hands of a receiver. The liabilities are reported to be $270,000 and the assets about SIOO,OOO. J. J. Hunt was in Chicago Tuesday to inquire into the progress being made on the new pipe organ for Trinity M. E. church. The instrument is all completed and was being assembled and tested before shipment. The company assured Mr. Hunt that they would have it in place for Easter Sunday, and they will also furnish a male soloist for the Easter services, and an expert organist for an organ recital, to be given either before or after the Easter services, it depending on just how soon the organ is installed.
