Funeral of W. F. Powers Was Largely Attended.
The funeral of William F. Powers was, held Tuesday afternoon at his late home on River street and was largely attended. The floral offerings were very fine and profuse. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. C. Parrett of the Presbyterian church, and burial made in Weston cemetery. Among the out of town people attending the funeral were &!r. and Mrs. Joseph Hemphill of Piper City, Ill.; Mrs. John H. Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Liane of Lisbon, N, Dak., Mrs. Hemphill and Mrs. Brown being sisters of deceased; Mrs. Jennie Graham ami Mr. and Mrs. Ed Irwin of Wolcott, Mrs. Graham being a sitser of Mrs. Powers; and P. H, Lally of Michigan City, the latter an old comrade of deceased in the civil war. The following obituary was read "at the funeral: William F. Powers was born in Ft. Wayne, indi, April 10, 18 41 ; died in Rensselaer Feb. 20, 1915, -aged 73 years, 10 months and 10 days. He was the only son in a family of seven children born to Henry and Mary Powers. In the spring of 1845, he, with his parents, came to Rensselaer, which has since been his home. When the civil war. began he enlisted in Company; II of the Fifteenth Indiana regiment, and served for almost three years, from April 25, 1861, to Dec. 23, 1863, When, being incapacitated for further service on account of injuries, be was' discharged. On Aug. 22, 1879, he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Cissel, with whom he has passed over thirty-five years of life. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, one step-son, Fred .Cissel, and two sisters, namely, Mrs. Hemphill of Piper City, 111., and Mrs. John H. Brown of Lisbon, N. Dak., also many relatives and friends.
