Machine Head Against State-Wide Primary.
In spite of the promise of the last democratic state convention, the urging of President Wilson, the speech of Mr. Bryan, the council of John A. Kern and the entire congressional delegation of Indiana, Tom Taggart has decided that he will not have a suite primary law passed, and so no such a law will he passed this session, because when it is put up to this legislature, just as it was in the hist, what Tom wants, goes. . The -special reason for Mr. Taggart's land is of course under a primary •" his power would largely begone, rim no man has yet been borii, who having once tasted power,-does not think in ills private soul that he could give God Almighty cards and guides and still beat him running the universe, and Mr. Taggert is not going to step "down and out until he has too. In the primaries Mr. O’Brien would have little or no show as a candidate for governor, but in a Taggert dominated convention he will have practically no opposition.—, Benton Review (Dem.).
