Mathew Zherden Dead at Ripe Old Age.

Mathew .Zherden, who has been in feeble health for some time, died at 7 o’clock Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Healy, on Front street. The** funeral will be held this morning at 9 o’clock from St. Augustine’s Catholic church, and burial made in Mt. Calvary cemetery, south of town. Mr. Zherden was a native of Germany, having been born there Sept. 14, 1827. He came to America some 38 years ago, locating in Wisconsin and later coming to Jasper county, which has since been his home. His wife died about three years ago. He leaves four daughters, Mrs. John Healy and Mrs. Jacob Wagner of Rensselaer; Mrs. Nicholas Wagner, of near Wolcott, and Mrs. S. E. Overton, of South Haven, Mich. Mrs. Overton came a few days ago and was here at the time of his death. His de’ath was caused from the in? firmities of old age.
