100,000 ASKED FOR ARMY Rep. Britten From Illinois Has Bill to Increase Force and Form v Reserve. Washington, Dec. 24.—Representative Britten of,lllinois introduced in the house a biff authorizing the immediate enlistment of 100,000 men to serve in the army for four months and then to form a reserve subject to call for a period cf ten years. Mr. Britten says his idea is to take off the streets the able-bodied men now joblesss and hunting work and to give them employment and pay during the winter months. AEROPLANE WRECKED; 1 HURT Lieut. Ralph Holliday, United States Army, Injured at Oceanside, Cal. Oceanside, Cal., Dec. 24.—Lieut. Ralph Holliday, observer on the United States army scouting aeroplane which left Los Angeles; for San Diego, was slightly injured near liece when the aeroplane, piloted by Lieut. J. d. Morrow, was wrecked in landing. Holliday was badly cut about the head and face. Morrow escaped with a few bruises. The ' machine . was Badly wrecked.
