NEW BOULEVARD LIGHTS

Will Probably All Be Turned On In Rensselaer Tonight for the First Time. City Light Superintendent C. S. Chamberlain has been very busy this week with his force of assistants in installing the new boulevard street lights, and informed us yesterday morning that he expected to have the work completed so that the "juice” could be turned on this (Saturday) evening for the first time. So if you want to get the first glimpse of Rensselaer’s great "white way,” come to town tonight and see how pretty we look. One of the new lights was set up in the window at Rhoades’ barber shop Wednesday and has since been turned on each evening, and has created much favorable comment. They are the latest thing out in boulevard lights, having supplanted the cluster lights, such as our neighboring towns of Fowler, Kentland and Monticelo have. One large single globe with the lately invented new nitrogen lamp, supplies a better Hgtit, it is claimed, than does the old cluster system, and the consumption of "juice” is much less. The lamp is 15 volts, 300 watts, 60 0 candle power. Rensselaer’s main business street will present quite a metropolitan appearance indeed with this new lighting system.
