BAUM’S BRIDGE.
Ino Bright was a caller at the Gibs home Sunday. Messrs. Shook and Fendig were autoing in these parts last Friday. C. 1). Shook finished his haying in the vicinity of Baiun's Bridge Saturday.
Dr. and Mrs. Dittiner of Kouts, and a lady friend from Chicago, were autoing in these parts Sunday. Messrs. T. F. Maloney, democratic candidate for county clerk, and L. A. Bostwick, democratic candidate for county surveyor, were calling on the voters here Friday. While helping to load some heavy machinery Saturday, Walter Wiseman, Jr., got one of bis hands badly bruised, which, upon the eve of his departure on a corn husking tour, is surely a very unfortunate accident. ' Homer Wilcox of Parr, who has been pressing hay in the vicinity of Baum’s Bridge for the past few weeks, moved his pressing outfit to North Judson, where he has work to do for Wolfe, the Walkerton hay buyer.
The masquerade party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Morehouse Saturday evening was largely attended by the young people of this and other localities. All surely had an enjoyable time. Refreshments were served of which all partook in true hungry style.
To get a proposal liken unto the real brand dealt out by fair hands during leap year, was the experience of Amiel Martin while at North Judson Saturday evening. So surprised was he at this unexpected and unseasonable proposal that all be could say was, "This is so sudden; ask father.” !
A large number from this locality attended the funeral of the late Samuel Clark, who died at a hospital in Chicago, at which place he was taken for an operation. After examination the surgeon declared that his case was such that an operation could not help him. The funeral services were held at the M. E, church at Wiheatfield Sunday at 11 o'clock a. m., and interment in the Wheatfield cemetery. Relatives and friends from Kersey, Kouts and Deniotte, attended the services. Mr. Clark had lived in these parts for years and was highly respected by all that knew him. A host of friends mourn his loss and extend to the bereaved family and relatives their sympathy.
