Om 27. -Notwithstand ing that preliminary figures for New "Vork city’s expenses next year in elude a proposed saving of $2,000,000 in administrative expenses, the tentative budget as a whole calls for $204,.129,441, an increase of $11,133,889 over last year Even with the prun ing which the board of estimates or the board of aldermen may make, if -is believed that the final budget will ►call for $200,000,000. The Increase is due principally to debt, to the decision ■to write off uncollectable taxes to the sum of over $.1,000,000, and to larger appropriations for education.
