Jasper County Democrat, Volume 17, Number 56, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 21 October 1914 — POLITICAL NOTES. [ARTICLE]
POLITICAL NOTES.
There will be prohibition speaking at the court bouse this evening at 7:30 by I. S. Wade. Herman C. Rogers, progressive candidate for Judge of this judicial circuit, was over from Morocco Monday. Remember the democratic speaking tonight, at Remington, by Hon. William L. Newbold of Rushville. Mr. Newbold will also speak at Wheatfield tomorrow night. Here’s another calamity item: The Ford Motor Company announces that it sold and delivered during the month of September; 1914, 21,479 Ford cars, an increase of 11,976 over September, 1913. The democratic speaking here Saturday afternoon was held in the opera house, instead of the Gayiety airdome, as intended, because of its being most too cool Saturday for outdoor speaking. Judge Thomas Duncan, chairman qf the Indiana Public Service Commission, who spoke at the meeting, was listened to by a very good-sized crowd indeed, and made a clear, logical talk along the work done by the democrats, both in the state and national administrations. He told of the work done by the Public Service Commission and of the democratic officials of the state and defended their acts as being worthy of the support of the voters of Indiana He paid a strong tribute to the national' administration also, and the entire speech was couched in plain logical language and particularly free from the vicious abuse of the apposing parties which campaign speakers often indulge in. Mr. Duncan is a pleasant gentleman to meet and made a good impression- here.
