Return From Visit to South Dakota.
Charles Grant aud Mrs. Jeff Smith returned Saturday from a visit with relatives at Burke, S. Dak. They were accompanied home by H. M. Shipman, who spent the summer there with his daughter, Mrs. Everal Smith. Mr. Shipman says that the early small grain was very good there this year but that late wheat and oats were scarcely worth cutting in that vicinity, owing to their having been badly damaged by hail. The hay crop was also good, and corn is the best they have ever known there. It has rained about every other day there for the past three or four weeks, making it rather slow putting up late hay.
