The Figures Speak But They Depend on the Party That Uses the Pencil. Republican papers and speakers worried by the winning race Will H. Ade is making for congress, are giving out a mess of figures to try to convince the voters that Mr. Ade has no show of election. They close their figures on tne vote of John O. Bowers for congress. Mr. Bowers polled 9,800 votes with no county ticket in Warren, Benton and Tippecanoe counties. Then, in the other five counties, hundreds of progressive voters had taken part in the republican county conventions and felt in honor bound to support these county tickets which were headed by the republican candidate for congress. The Progressive state ticket got 12,500 votes in this district. Take 9,800 votes from i 2,500 and it leaves 2,700 Progressive voters that voted for the Republican candidate for congress. Take 2,700 votes from 1 7,294 and it leaves 1 4,594 votes for the Republican candidate to start with in the race. The Republican leaders know, and the rank and file Republicans know, and are talking that William H. Ade will take at the very least 1,500 votes away from Wm. Wood, the Republican candidate. This will leave Mr. Wood 13,000 votes. William H. Ade will thus have 9,800 plus 2,700 plus 1,500 equaling 1 4,000 votes. Mr. Peterson had 18,401 votes to his credit in 1912. Now, men of all parties concede and talk that Mr. Peterson will sustain a loss of at least 5,000 votes in the district which will leave him 13,400 votes. Now, these 5,000 votes will go to the other two candidates. Does Ade or Wood stand the best chance to get the most of these votes? Take your choice, Mr. Voter. William H. Ade or Wm. Wood will represent you in congress. Now, Mr. Voter we have no objection to you making up a different set of figures if you wish. The figures we have given you area great deal more sensible and will come nearer hitting the mark than
