Man’s chief duty in the making of beer is to prevent any interference with the natural process of fermentation. Beer is rightly classed as a food product. It is the essence of the health giving grains—barley and corn or rice—from which it is brewed. Hops, with their recognized tonic properties, are added to give it flavor. Beer has rightfully earned its reputation as the world’s greatest beverage. It’s food properties give health; it’s pleasant flavor brings happiness; and it’s mildness promotes temperance.
