Schools Must Be Used For Vocational Training

By Secretary of Labor WILLIAM B. WILSON

OUR INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL SUPREMACY IS NOT SO MUCH DEPENDENT UPON CHEAP LABOR AS IT IS UPON EFFICIENT LABOR. THE HIGHEST STANDARD OF EFFICIENCY CAN BE BEST ATTAINED

TRAINING THE MINDS AND MUSCLES OF OUR PEOPLE WHEN THEY ARE IN THE IMPRESSIONABLE AND FLEXIBLE CONDITION OF YOUTH. THAT MEANS THAT OUR SCHOOLS MUST BE UTIL-

IZED AS THEY HAVE NOT BEEN IN THE PAST, FOR PURPOSES OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING. To accomplish the dosiivjj results students of sociology and economics, together with legislative bodies, must be brought into harmonious relations with each other in order that UXITED ACTION CAN BE HAD ALONG PROPER LEGISLATIVE LINES. The intelligent energy displayed by the National Association for the Promotion of Industrial Education in handling this subject matter has already given it a legislative prominence which it could not otherwise have had.
