Items from the circuit court docket: Not much has been done in the circuit court since the. last issue of The Democrat. The jury, after bringing in a verdict in the case of the state vs. j. m. Miller, who was found guilty of operating a “blind tiger at Mt. Ayr on an old charge brought here from Newton county, on change of venue, was excused until next Monday. Miller was fined SSO and costs and given a jail sentence of 30 days. Pending the hearing of a motion for a new trial, which will be argued Monday, the defendant was released under his existing bond In event a new trial is ■ denied, The case will be Appealed to t ie, higher courts, it is reported. ? tat ®, X s - Gua Pratt, charge of unlawful heavy hauling; cause dismissed on motion.
