SUBSIDY ELECTIONS ALL LOST.
Carpenter, Jordan and Princeton Townships Turn Down Proposition. The railroad subsidy elections in Carpenter and Jordan townships, Jasper county, and Princeton tp., including the town of Wolcott, in White county, were all against the proposition in the special elections held Tuesday. It was the second recent attempt to curry an election in favor of the tax in Carpenter and Jordan, but this was the first time of late for Princeton to vote on such a proposition. „ Both Carpenter and Jordan gave a heavier majority against the proposition than they did in the election held in February. Then the majority in Carpenter was an even 100, against 145 at Tuesday’s election. In Jordan the majdfity was 28 in the February election and 29 in Tuesday’s election.
The vote by precincts in Carpenter tp., was: For Against East precinct . 106 81 West precinct 62 104 South precinct . . . . . . . . 70 98 Totals ........... 138 283} Jordan tp 65 94 The vote in Princeton township by precincts was 156 for to 249 against, as follow's: For Against N o. 1 82 90 No. 2 53 98 No. 3 21 61 Totals ... .. ... . . . . .156 249 A deposit of S2OO has been made with the auditor of White county to cover the expense of the election in Princeton tp. In this county President Roberts Put up $354.40, the cost of the former election in Carpenter and Jordan, and for the last .election he put up S7O to cover the expense of the election in Jordan, but nothing for Carpenter township. Just, what the next move will be in the railroad matter we are unable to state. President Roberts went to Chicago Tuesday evening and at this writing is understood net to have returned.
