\\. B. \ eoman Writes From Columbia City. In renewing his subscription to The Democrat, W. B. Yeoman, former trustee of Newton tp., Jasper county, writes from Columbia City, near which place he has been located M upon a farm, for the past few years, and says: Mr. F. E. Babcock, Rensselaer, Ind. Dear Friend:—We see by the label on our paper that our subscription will soon expire, and we cannot get along without The Democrat very well, so am sending money order for $4.00 for The Democrat and the Cihcago Examiner. All of the former Jasper county people are getting along nicely here. We have been having lots of rain, but the weather is fine now I never saw wheat look better than now, a perfect green carpet. I see you democrats and republicans have both made nominations and are ready for the fray. Here we have the primary. We democrats hold ours the 25th of this month. Everything looks favorable. Well, I will close by wishing The Democrat and The Democrat push the best of success.
PANHANDLE LETTER. A. S. Parcels Writes The Democrat From McLean, Texas. McLean, Texas, April 3, 1914. Editor Democrat I fail to see in The Democrat anything in regard to this part of Texas, will write a few lines. " 8 have had a fine winter, not
more than a week like winter weather altogether. Cattle are looking very well considering the drouth of last year. Cattle are very high. Some have sold their spring crop of calves for fall delivery S2B to S3O per head. People arp now busy planting corn. While this i 3 not a firstclass corn country, there will be quite an acreage put in. The principal crops are milo maize and Kaffir corn. One man can plant and cultivate with four good mules 150 acres of rbw crops. The, fruit has all been killed by the mild winter. Phe oil boom is on here how. A’ company has the derrick ready to begin drilling as soon as the drill oan be got in the ground. We had a fine rain yesterday and it is still raining today.
