Many Saloons Put Out of Business in Illinois.
In the Chicago elections Tuesday none of the women candidates were successful, but in the option elections throughout the state 974 saloons were put of business. A total of 115 new “dry” townships were added to the “no license” list, 1 dry township voted wet; 22 new dry counties added, making a total of 52 dry counties in the state; 47 dry townships remain dry, and 72 wet townships remain wet; 235 townships voted; 162 voting dry and 73 voting wet. The anti-saloon forces say the whole state will be made dry in five years.
