Will Beat the Republicans to It.
The action of the Bull Moose state committeemen in switching the date for their state convention so that they can nominate a ticket* ahead of the republicans has been followed by a rumor that the republicans will change their date so that they can nominate first. This is denied by Secretary Henley, of the republican state committee. The republicans are not going to change their dates, but the Bull Moosers may force them to change their plans ] somewhat It is understood that the Bull Moosers advanced the date of their convention because they are anxious® t
to get into the campaign ahead of the republicans and to force the latter to come in.o the open on a number of issues. Some of the democratic leaders say that the Bull Moosers want to he in position to be regarded as tse party that is taking the most advanced position on the ; so-called progressive issues. The Bull Moosers will- declare for a state-wide primary, the initiative ; referendum, recall, woman’s suffrage workman's compensation and for a constitutional convention. They will outradical both the old parties. They I gill declare or county local option unless they change ineir plans It i - hardly regarded r s likely that they viif declare for national prohibition. | £lthough there is sentiment among \ em in :avor of that issue.

Young man, what are you going to do in the spring? Are you going to' be content to make a slave of yourself on that old worn out farm? Are you going to wear out your machinery and horses this summer as > r >u did last; and after giving a share of your crop, find yourself with no more of the comforts of life than when you began? I SAY NO! Not after you have learned of the opportunity I have to offer you Write to me and let me tell you about the great farm products and “COME FOR A HOME IN WISCONSIN.” Here you will find a soil capable of producing anything that will grow. You will find on this soil a crop ready to harvest, for the land is covered with timber, and a ready market for all you can take to town. Here YOU CAN GET A HOME, if you have only three or four hundred dollars, because I am offering this land to you at sls and sl6 an acre on terms that will be convenient to you. You will not have to work one bit harder than you now do, and you will have the satisfaction of working for yourself and family on yonr own land. ROOM AT THE TOP.
THERE'S ever a crowd In the ‘valley, : For the lower a soul descends ■ , • ' 'The more it finds of the -smaller minds That set k out their selfish ends. , There's companionship in the val- • ley. 1 . .. With others your lot is thrown, But the man who tries for the lair-. ;■ ger prize Must travel the heights alone. He must make for himself a pathway Where no other foot e'er trod Till he grows complete in contentment sweet As he learns to walk with God. There is glory upon the mountain. Though the summit is' cold and bleak. Yet the radians-burst of the dawn falls first. Like a blowing rose on the peak Then dare the paths of the mountain, Oh, spirit with godlike fire. Whose depths are stirred by an lnward word, To struggle and to aspire. Be not content, with the sluggard, In the Valley of life to stop. But with purpose bold heed the adage old; “There's always room at the top." —J. A. Edgerton.
LOVE’S DANCE.
TOVE came dancing through the " world, * And my heart was glad. Love she came and danced with me When the world was sad— Danced and kissed me on the lips Till my blood ran mad A ND forgotten was the world, Gobi and ruby's shine; Folly came and to our lips Pressed her ruby wine. And I laughed, and danced we on; Youth and Love were mine. UyISE ones sought to lure me back—- * ” ’Wise ones gray and old— Showed me Wisdom and Renown And the glint of gold. But they could pot hear the tale Love to me had tfold WHAT cares Love for great renown, Gold or rubles fine? Beggars they who cling to these. Leaving Love for mine; Holding to their breasts but dross Whil# I drink Love’s wine! —Will Llsenbee.
