Monticello Telephone Troubles Still Unsettled.
The telephone situation over at Monticello is still in a state of chaos. The patrons, through a committee selected to meet the officers of the company, demand the permarant retirement of T. E. Hanaway, the superintendent, free service to Yeotan, Idaville, and Buffalo, and no penalty or lino for non-payment of rentals. In the event the company cannot give service at present rentals of $1.50 and $2.50 per month, and the utilities commission fixes a higher rate, patrons will abide by rate fixed by such commission. To practically all of this the company has acceded, even to the permanent retirement of its superintendent, but leaves v he matter oi tolls to Idaville and Yeoman which systems are owned by other partie to the public service commission, and gives current month for paying rentals without penalty.
The citizens’ committee has rejected the proposition of the company, and a settlement of the difficulties seems no nearer a solution than, it was a tew weeks ago.
